Here are some commonly asked questions in my classroom and their answers.
Question: When do I hand in my homework? Answer: You may hand in your homework right away in the morning. That way, you don’t lose it. I will give you only one warning on turning in your homework, otherwise, I count it as late work.
Question: What happens if our homework is late? Answer: Homework is important because it is your time to practice concepts that we have learned in class. Many times it is important for you to complete homework in order to understand the next lesson in that class. You are required to make-up all homework immediately. During recess is usually when you will have to complete homework.
Question: Do you make students write in cursive? Answer: Yes! Cursive on all assignments is a must. I will make you do assignments over that aren’t written in cursive.
Question: Do I have to get my assignment notebook signed every night by my parents? Answer: Yes! This is the main form of communication between your parents and myself.
Question: When can I use the restroom? Answer: I encourage you to take restroom breaks before and after specials, recess and lunch period. I do allow my students to use the restroom during class if needed. However, it is important to go at appropriate times and not everyday during class time. For example, independent work time and silent reading are good times to go, not during group work or when I’m teaching a lesson.
Question: When can I go to my locker? Answer: You need to bring everything you need for the day, other than your snack in right away in the morning.
Question: When is snack time? Answer: 9:30 on most days. If we happen to go to the computer lab during that time, we will have snack afterwards. Generally, it is after your last special of the morning.
Question: When are specials? Answer: We have specials in the morning. It is important that you get into school on time and prepare for the day immediately.
Question: Do we have classroom jobs? Answer: Yes, you will need to check the job board at the start of every month. You need to take responsibility to do these jobs everyday.
